Dr. Hoshiko received his medical degree from University of California, Irvine, and completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at UCI and Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Microbiology and Cytopathology.   He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pathology at UCI School of Medicine.

JULIO IBARRA, MD

Dr. Ibarra received his medical degree from the National University of Mexico in Mexico City and completed his internship and residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, Irvine.  Dr. Ibarra is an internationally recognized expert in breast pathology and the author of numerous papers on the topic.  He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology with special expertise in Breast pathology and Neuropathology.  He is a Clinical Professor of Pathology at UCI School of Medicine.

EMANUEL THOMAS FERRO, MD, PhD, DVM

Dr. Ferro received his medical degree from University of California, San Diego. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, Irvine. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He also received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and PhD in Comparative Pathology from UC Davis.

MIKA FUJIWARA, MD

Dr. Fujiwara received her medical degree from University of Vermont, College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Stanford University Medical Center. She then completed a Surgical Pathology Fellowship with emphasis in Gynecologic pathology and a Cytopathology Fellowship at Stanford. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology.

BE T. HUYNH, MD

Dr. Huynh received her medical degree from Creighton University.  She completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, Irvine, and then completed an Oncologic Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.  She is the Site Program Director for the UCI pathology residency program.

Dr. Khanifar received her medical degree from University of Oxford Medical School and completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, Irvine.  She then completed a fellowship in Gastrointestinal/Liver Pathology at University of California, Los Angeles.  She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Ries received her medical degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center.  She completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, Irvine, followed by a two-year Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. She then did a Dermatopathology Fellowship at UCI with Dr. Ronald Barr. Her other subspecialty expertise includes Breast pathology. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Dermatopathology. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at UCI School of Medicine.

STEPHEN G. ROMANSKY, MD

Dr. Romansky received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and completed his residency training in Anatomic Pathology and Pediatrics at University of California, Irvine and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Dr. Romansky is the author of a chapter on neuromuscular disease in “Potter’s Pathology of the Fetus and Infant.” He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Pediatric Pathology, and in Pediatrics. He is a Clinical Professor of Pathology at UCI School of Medicine.

Dr. Shane received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She then completed a Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Additional subspecialty expertise includes liver pathology and neuropathology. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Pathology. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at UCI School of Medicine.


JARED SHOWS, MD

Anatomic Pathology and Pediatric Pathology

Dr. Shows is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Pathology. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport and completed residency training in pathology at the University of Colorado. He completed a Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Additional interests of his include bone and soft tissue pathology, liver pathology and neuropathology.
